Synopsis
On his fifteenth birthday, Emil Santiago walks to a cliff behind his town, ready to give up on a life filled with poverty, shame, and invisibility. But instead of falling, he meets a ghost-Clarisse Mateo, a girl who died mysteriously decades ago. Bound by a strange rule that allows them to see each other because of their shared birthday, Clarisse becomes an invisible companion who helps Emil reclaim his confidence, his dignity, and his hope.
As Clarisse guides Emil through school, family struggles, and young love, she slowly reveals the sorrow that binds her to the world: her body was never found, and she can't rest until someone remembers her enough to look. When Emil uncovers her remains buried beneath his former home, he must make a difficult choice-to keep the ghost who saved him, or set her free.
A quiet, emotional coming-of-age story set in a small Filipino town, The Boy and The Ghost is about grief, memory, kindness, and the invisible ways we save each other.
