Skepticism Stories

Some of my early mostly college ramblings and later. Some were in a small book of the same name I self published and printed while working at Xerox. I have decided not to look at them with my 40 year old mindset but let them stand as they were ...ramblings that at times could resemble poetry. I hope you give it a chance. I will try at a later date to put together a non-mature version of this work.

Interpretive poetry illustrating the unknown experience of the afterlife, questioning our knowledge, and emphasizing the vastness of our own minds and the universe.

A little story about atheism and how a fictional anonymous comes to realize their beliefs by means of snowflakes. Also, this story is not for religious people that are easily offended, because while I'm not bashing any specific religion, there is some mention of God being unjust. I accept all religions, but these are just my personal thoughts.

He hates being curious about things because then he loses all common sense and has to sate his curiosity. But he can't stop himself from being curious about Romi, the girl who conducts the weekly poetry sessions which Samay (forcibly) participates in. She's intelligent, yes. She knows how poetry works, sure. But she is so guarded, and that, Samay can't tolerate. Kiara is painfully shy. Bullied often as a kid, she grows up keeping her thoughts and ideas to herself, and occasionally pouring them in a sketch book or a notebook. Creativity takes over and she realises she writes poetry quite well. However, when her cousin Sarah, invites her to join a poetry group that meets weekly, Kiara must decide whether she really wants to put herself out there, in the open. Rishi is easy going and uncomplicated. He enjoys a good poem thanks to his best friend, Kabir. Kabir harbours a massive crush on Sarah so when she invites him to weekly poetry gatherings, Kabir decides to drag Rishi in. Rishi meets Kiara, the shy girl. He has made it a rule to avoid all kinds of dramas and complications, yet he feels compelled to solve the complex puzzle that is Kiara. What unites all these very different, very colourful people? Poetry, of course. The magic of words and verses draws in Kabir (a lawyer and volunteer with a heart of gold), Sarah (the girl with spunk), Samay (Mr. Grouch), Rishi, Kiara, and of course, the person who leads them to the wonderful world of poetry - Romi. An entry for @InsideCriminalMinds dystopian contest. Approximately 1500 words. One by one, the stars have dissolved within the night sky. The lone ship Nova Prime is all that is left of humanity. Can the crew find hope, or will they too fade into the darkness of space?
