What if Beorn wasn't the last of his kind? Radagast's apprentice is sent, quite unwillingly, along on Thorin's quest. What will happen when she proves herself useful in more ways than one?

"I might not be so sure of that." *** The Skin-changers were once a proud people who lived in the Misty Mountains. That was before the orcs invaded. All were either killed or enslaved for sport. All but Beorn died eventually in those caverns. Or so he thought... Niatha was born a skin-changer until their race was taken by the goblins. She believed she was the only survivor, and so did he. Her help is needed on the quest to Erebor. On this quest she will discover that she is not alone in this world. She is not the last... Trust is a thing that must be earned the hard way: there are no short-cuts, not cheats. A problem like this could mean the exposing of the most closely guarded secret a girl has ever held, for dwarves fear and hunt what they believe to be a threat. You are Telvana (Tell-Van-ah) one of the last Skin-Changers left in Middle Earth, well, aside from your big brother Beorn. Known for being quite unBEARable at most times. You live with your brother, far to the East, just a little ways before the wood elf realm of Mirkwood. Your homestead consists of a nice log cabin with a makeshift stone wall around your brothers property. You prefer to take care of your garden, growing food and flowers as well as tending to the livestock and the horses, Beorn prefers to patrol the area and do hard labor around the homestead. Everything you could want is already here, why leave? I guess we'll find out...

The days spent within the confines of a cage were perhaps some of the worst days that Beorn had ever known. Through a chance encounter of a fellow escaped prisoner, he has to slowly come to terms with perhaps not being the only skin-changer left. Though this has left him with many questions, he doesn't seem wholly able to voice them without Azog's cruel intrusions. When both skin-changers cross paths again, a plan to escape and a chance of freedom starts to stir and linger.

Thranduil is often seen as a cold, hard, uncaring elf who is incapable of feeling love. In reality, he is broken inside from the loss of his wife, and never learned to deal with it properly, burying his emotions deep within himself and not allowing himself to feel anything at all. When he finds a girl with remarkable abilities, will she be able to heal his wounds? Will he learn to have faith in others again? I do not lay claim to any of J.R.R Tolkien or Peter Jackson's work, the only things I own are the parts of the storyline that I created and the characters I created.
