I asked while weeping "if I was that big of a burden just because I was born dark, then why did you not kill me as an infant? At least I would not have to live with the agony of dealing with people's animosity. Uncle told those people that I look like a charred pot..." The dream ended abruptly before my words ended. An unconscious teardrop rolled down my temple just like how a dewdrop on a blade of grass trickles down. But somehow, waking up was not as usual today for Amara. There is a sense of serenity, a feeling that tells me "yes, I belong somewhere". __________________________________________ With one unconscious whim, he swiftly switched his phone on again only to view the picture of a girl. Not so beautiful, neither ugly. One might think she's quite passably cute, especially with her crooked teeth that seems to enhance her smile. Her burnt orange hijab laid perfectly around her head embracing her disproportionate face. The 'not so pretty' girl has somehow kept Iman up for nights for the past one year yet he was unable to do any justice to his emotions. How could he after all, as he himself crumbled whatever relationship they had between them. __________________________________________ She suffered, she cries, she got over him. What awaits her now is peace. Peace that comes with acceptance. Peace that comes with having someone even more beautiful by her side. This....this is a happy ending. After all those tears and repercussions, let's see what life has in store for these people.

colourism is a very sensitive topic and a very personal one for me. But it's important to realise that everyone has their own charms. It took me a very long time to accept and admire myself. Dark skin is also as bright as fair. whether it's milky, golden or chocolatey skin, it's beautiful🖤
