In the story the will be a city in the clouds

The Salem Witch Massacre served as a turning point for wizards all over the globe. Magic, they felt, was no longer welcome by their nom-magical neightbors, so they fled to the skies to create new lives for themselves. Sora Hanaka, a mild-mannered teen with no memories of his past, finds himself on one of these cities with six other individuals. The city is inviting, but Sora quickly realizes that there is something sinister occurring under the surface. With the help of the six wizards that he met on his first day there, Sora uncovers the truth about the familiars, the Red Children, and the Sunset buildings all over the city. What he discovers, however, is unlike anything he has ever faced before.

Meant to be part of a sequel for my full novel, but I liked it enough to want to share here! Sci-fi set in future where floating, sentient city states travel around the globe; the protagonist is sent to conduct a series or interviews with an elderly relative, gathering her perspective as someone who was present for the creation of Sky Cities.
