Alruses
High above the Anchored Earth, burrowed into one of the many floating islands scattered above an endless, ravenous storm, is a grand city. It is called Centris, and it stands alone in its majesty and mastery of the skyclad world.
This City is starting to die.
The Heart, the benevolent sentience which sustains life miles above the ground, is choked and slowly suffocated by twisted alabaster tendrils. A weed, a mind, an invasive thought tries to pry the life from its core. Society crumbles under the weight of its ambition, the government freezes in fear of itself. The colony-island Priat senses weakness, and once again dreams of fire and freedom. Deep in the depths of the City, the least among her people are hunted by monsters born of terror and longing.
Against the aligned will of entropy stands the Speaker, chosen of the Heart and executor of the will of the City, a thaumaturgy-wielding bureaucrat with an uncut soul. His devotion to his City propels him across the strange world of Centris, encountering her people and battling her enemies.
