Kai, Nya and Lloyd have... an interesting home life, to say the least. Their parents, Maya and Ray, are world travelling scientists pushing for the next major breakthrough in oceanic discoveries, and with their legacy overshadowing their children, expect only the best of the kids they had "raised." Kai, the eldest, was forced to step up for his siblings at a young age during his parent's frequent "business trips," sacrificing most of his early adolescence in an attempt to preserve what little remained of his brother and sister's childhood. With their parents largely out of the picture, the Smith children make friends, build relationships, and begin to thrive without the oppressive weight of Maya and Ray's impossible expectations and crippling absence. Sure, things are imperfect, and some parts of their lives loom over their heads like storm clouds, but what they have is theirs, untouchable and wholly their own. Until one day it all falls apart. Three years later, Kai is finishing up high school when his parents decide to show up again- this time for good. As the drama of the healing family's lives build up, someone begins to quake from the pressure. Will they be able to keep their secret? Will old connections be reforged? Will they finally be a family again, after so many years of distance and bitterness? And most of all, what will happen when the chips come down? Read on to find out! It's a neverending game of pretend. Sometimes, you don't even realize you're playing until it's too late. - Fortune - Nya Smith had a plan for her future: graduate high school with a 3.8 GPA, apply for a college scholarship to get a doctorate in engineering, and pull herself out of the lower class. All of that is thrown out the window when she's brought to the Garmadon Estate- the mansion formerly inhabited by the family it was named after. The same family that disappeared until only Wu Garmadon was left. The old man had no relations. Not a single living friend to leave his fortune to. Nya has to figure out why Wu left 5 seemingly random teenagers the rest of the Garmadon fortune before he disappeared like the rest of his family. None of the other four people in the will have any relation to the Garmadon lineage: Jay Walker's a junkyard boy with way too much energy and electrifying blue eyes, Cole Brookestone's a runaway who shudders at the mention of dancing and has a strange addiction to cake (somehow he's jacked), Zane Julien's extremely intelligent but has no recollection of who he was before Wu found him, and Kai Smith is her own hotheaded brother. With these four, will she be able to find out why they were chosen? Or are they just victims of whatever caused the Garmadon a to disappear? Nya isn't the only one who wants answers. Harumi Jade, a white haired beauty who's both rich and powerful, is already halfway to the answer. All she needs is someone with inside information- and Nya Smith is perfect for the job. But the answers discovered only lead to more questions. What happened to the Garmadons?

The ninja go to the never realm to get back Zane. But they decide to bring a special friend along with them-Skylor Chen. Since Kai has not seen Skylor in so long, he forgot how much he admires her. Little does he know, she feels the same about him. Although the two face chaos, drama, and pain together, they wouldn't want it any other way.
