Just like all the other Dragon Heirs of age, Plamen attends The Grand Test of Power so the Gods can judge who of them is worthy of breaking the curse that binds Dragon kind to human bodies. Not many managed to pass the test - you can count them on the fingers of one hand. Even worse, only one person came close to breaking the curse, yet failed. Plamen will do anything to succeed, even unwillingly team up with two other Dragon Heirs. Zima and Vid are interesting companions, though, ones he thinks he doesn't need. The obstacle appearing in front of them is not something anyone could predict but, to their utter bafflement, they pass the Test. However, it comes at a steep price. Because now, they just need to find out how to stay alive. From one corner it's Goddess NuΕΎda's minions attacking them - and not just them, but their friends, families, everyone's at risk - and from another, it's the political machinations of adult dragons that make this endeavor almost impossible. '...what price are you willing to pay?' The ancient prophecy speaks of the three that will be victorious, but it's not complete and the missing parts are ones they need to be wary of. Annotation (Аннотация) In her second day in Solovyevo, Alina begins to meet the unusual residents of the village. Guided by Elder Arel, she steps into a world where each person is part of an ancient weave: a carpenter who speaks to owls, a seer who listens to herbs, and a forest spirit who knows the memory of trees. When three magical beings unexpectedly fall for a mysterious blue-eyed girl, Alina witnesses how even the strangest stories can end in laughter and tea under the stars. Solovyevo slowly reveals its true magic - and Alina is no longer just a guest.

The Kurczaka Travelling Inn has been in Meluza Dovhun's family for generations, an open door and empty room to all sorts of guests. Suffice to say, Mel has seen her fair share of the unusual, whether from working at the front desk or helping clean out rooms. Really, there's not a whole lot that could surprise her anymore. That is, until a human shows up at the hotel's doorstep, and Kurczak decides to saunter off before Mel can get him to leave. Now, Mel's only hope is to hide the human's presence and pray none of the gods and spirits (or even worse, her grandmother) take notice before she can get him home. (Plus, her sister keeps getting into trouble with the rusalki, her mother is falling into serious religious practices, and the guests are causing trouble left, right, and center.) Magic is a force of nature. And in the country of Mednagora, it can be studied, understood, and even harnessed into strange and wondrous technology. But every new advancement comes at a price: magic must be harvested as "artifacts" from The Zone: one of many hotspots of wild magic, where fireballs and lightning bolts surge forth from the very ground, where wildlife is mutated into grotesque, hideous monsters, where even the dead sometimes rise from their slumber. The Zone must be explored by vedmaks, pathfinders and daredevils that wander it in search of viable sources of artifacts. Two of these vedmaks, Misha Sorokina and her protege, Drazhek Sventoslavichi, embark on a quest into The Bald Mountains, in search of an underground cache of artifacts. But if such grave peril marks the surface of The Zone, then what trials await beneath The Earth?
