Once upon a time, Theodore Nott was hers.
It wasn't supposed to happen. A Black and a Nott. A Gryffindor and a Slytherin. A war brewing in the distance, names already being whispered in the dark, sides being chosen before either of them had a say in it. But before all of that-before the expectations, before the war, before her family found out - there was just Eleanor and Theo.
Late-night conversations in the Astronomy Tower. A secret touch beneath the table in the library. His hands on her waist when no one was looking, his lips against her throat when the world felt too heavy. She never said it out loud, but he was hers, and she was his.
Until she wasn't.
One night, he ended it. "We can't keep doing this." His voice was quieter than she had ever heard it, like it physically hurt him to say it. "This war, it's coming, and we're on opposite sides. You know that, Ellie."
She fought him. Told him she didn't care. "We could run," she had whispered, fingers curling around his sleeve. "Leave before it starts."
But Theo didn't believe in fairy tales.

He won't even look at her in the hallways. But she still feels him. In the way his eyes flicker toward her when he thinks she isn't watching. In the way his knuckles turn white when she laughs with someone else. In the way she still dreams of him, even when she wishes she didn't.
