'What was Cristina singing, anyway? Anyone know?' I ask. Priya clears her throat. 'Um, yeah. I think she was singing: Yo no quiero pero yo te quiero.' There's a short silence. I think I know what that means. My heart doesn't know whether to rise or sink. 'Okay. So what does that mean?' 'Ummm. Well, quiero has a lot of meanings. It can mean 'I like' or 'I want' or 'I love'. So, I think it could be translated as: I don't like it but I want you.' ----------------------------------------------- Nby guitarist Leila's on tour around Europe with Ms Nadine's band and desperate to find some flamenco on a night off. What they weren't expecting was for their fancy fingering to win more than plaudits from the crowd, but the attention of Cristina de la Latina, a dancer drenched in duende. The problem: Leila doesn't speak Spanish, and Cristina doesn't speak English. And how do you explain non-binary in Spanish anyway? A story of love and languages, dance and desire, music and mistakes, join Leila and Cristina and the rest of the band as they take Spain by storm. Praise for 'Desire and Duende': 'Thank you for posting-your stories are so well written-plot lines, characters, twists, human nature and the human spirit to overcome the less savory aspects of that nature. All of it is beautiful and satisfying. When I need a goodly dose of romance, T, you're one of my first and favorite stops. Thank you!' - writer PygmyCoho 'You made me tear up with anger and joy. A reminder that love comes in all shades of life and deserves to be freely given and to flourish.' - writer RedGarters

On the planet of Jerusalem, Science is not just celebrated but entirely necessary to the colonists' continued success. But just because the brilliant minds of Ruth Samuelsdaughter and Martha Thomassdaughter help underpin their way of life, it doesn't mean the men that run the religious colony will grant them free choice over their lives. It's a new planet, but it's the same old patriarchy. Inspired by authors such as Margaret Atwood and John Wyndham, not to mention many women's daily reality, this dystopian tale pits a pair of female friends against the rigid religious structures that would dictate how they live. If they are going to escape it will be on a wing and a prayer. "This story has so much depth, so many nuances, I could write a 1,000 word critical analysis of it. The sheer expanse of the universe created, working out the salient features of a whole new world, an entirely mythical planet - which is so different from our world in some ways and yet so similar in others - is an imaginative feat." - verseandworse2 "Profoundly depressing and deeply enthralling. Something about it reminds me of Seth Dickinson's novels, which I mean as an unrestrained compliment." Enochlesis
