History didn't end with a grand curtain call when the Beast of the Land cast down the Great Whale of the Seas. It choked as rivers boiled over and evergreen groves shriveled up. Cities of old sank into red dust, scorched by the merciless sun. They were waiting for closure, but there was no finale as centuries passed.
Life finds a way, as it always does. The Glass Walkers, a tribe of hardened nomads riding across the ocean of dunes, stumble into a cub, speaking in tongues, lost to the sands all alone. Perhaps it was fate. Perhaps one final joke to mock the survivors down on their luck with yet another mouth to feed. For as the traditions demanded, no orphan is to be left behind.
A blessing? A burden? Only time will tell. What is one fragile soul against a withering world?
