Tallsie
Nindy is a merchant's daughter, good with numbers and trade, but not so good with people. She's been sheltered since she was 10, to protect her from an enemy her father was facing at the time, and so the littler girl, sent away to an tiny island, had nothing to do but read and practice her father's trade.
Which made her skill with numbers, and her persuasive works of literature, that more believable. Nindy wrote stories, of the people of the island, and of worlds she created in her own mind, but always under the pen name 'Sartin Night'.
But while her words on paper were picturesque and inspiring-the words that came out of her mouth weren't. When Nindy returned home after the crisis she found herself awkward around the strict people of the city, shy around the boys who tried to talk to her, and even more shy around the girls her age, who all seemed to be way better than her at socializing.
All her awkwardness didn't matter in the end though, because on the night of Nindy's 18th birthday, the town went down in flames. Invaders came, slaughtering the people, setting fires, looting-Nindy watched as her own father was killed in front of her. She grabbed her two siblings, and ran.
They escaped onto their father's ship.
And while Nindy could trade ships, she could not sail them. They did their best, but eventually food ran low, fresh water ran out, and everything that could go wrong did.
The mast broke in a storm. The sails tore in the wind. Nindy's little sister became sick, her little brother was still vacant and lost after watching their mother be murdered, and Nindy started to hallucinate.
Suddenly a ship had come into view, and a beautiful tall woman jumped on board and knelled down to Nindy. She whispered 'you are safe now' and Nindy felt her heart skip a beat, but that's when she knew she was hallucinating.
No way the woman from that forbidden book she had read so much on the island was actually saving her.
