hey everyone !! i orginally wrote the idea for this fic on tiktok, my account is "theangelofthursday", basically i have never ever played CoD, only read fics about it, i thought ao3 would be better for a fic like this, but i do not have an account, and are too lazy to make one, so i posted on here where i do. Every chapter can be read as an one shot unless stated differently at the start of a chapter. There is progression of feelings over the chapters. Ghost lost his childhood, he never got to be a kid and Soap does everything to give it back to him. Ghost never had the opportunity to play tag with his parents, the only tag he ever played was with the enemy that either wanted to kill him or the other way around. Ghost never got to build a pillow fort and lay on a soft blanket. Ghost never got to be childish or careless. Soap decided to change that. or Ghost finally experiences tenderness and fun.

Soap finds him and desperately tries to help, not ever imagining having gone on a mission with two people and only coming back with one person alive. If you're wondering why Soap's "yous" switch between "ya" and "you," it's because I feel like he's more of a "ya" guy, but there's some situations/phrases where "ya" doesn't cut it and you have to use "you," y'know? Ghost and Soap have feelings for each other, but Ghost hasn't been able to admit it. He keeps Soap at arm's length, until suddenly he's almost taken from him in combat. Soap hears a confession Ghost didn't think he was awake to hear, and the two sort out their feelings while Ghost takes care of Soap after his injury.
