Elliot Packer didn't mean to fall in love with Carter Ricket. She didn't even know how it happened. . . it just did. It only took one second, one glimpse, one touch. I don't like reading it, but I like writing it. If you don't like it that's fine it IS usually a bit depressing.

Sonce je neutrudno pripekalo na hladno streho spominskih vežic. Truma lepo urejenih, a povešenih, obrazov se je stekala k vhodu pokopališča. Običajno vedra skupina dijakov se je ovila v molk. Profesorjem je zastajal dih, z vsake strani neba se je širila tragična vest. Ustavile so se modre misli, tiho prerekanje, veselo prigovarjanje, še celo veter je zastal v pogonu. Ura se je bližala enajsti, pogrebni sprevod se je komaj pričenjal. V črno oblečeni pogrebci so tolažili prisotne in se pripravljali na začetek ceremonije. Le kdo bi si mislil, da se bo na tako jasen dan brez oblačka treba poslavljati od radostnega življenja?

Karma... it's such a complex concept, isn't it? On one hand, it suggests that the universe keeps a moral ledger, balancing out our actions with corresponding outcomes. But on the other hand, there's this human urge for revenge-a desire to make those who've wronged us feel the weight of their actions. It's a mix of pain, hate, love, and betrayal, all swirling together in this emotional cocktail.

Killian is a demure and quiet 19 year-old Dubliner who unlike his lust and romance ridden peers -renounces love along with all it's pointless necessities. Killian' hate for all forms of tenderness and warmth is so strong that it leads him to actively reject love in all its' presented guises. Loving parental attempts from his unstable family, Killian quietly rejects. Love from his perceived "jejune" group of friends' Killian violently revokes, even hero worship from his younger brother he despises. To him, love is worthless, futile and not worth investing in nor receiving. He's seen how love has motivated violence, how "love" has crippled his parents marriage, how "love" has made the world go mad. So why should he yearn for something so destructive? when he can just channel that unspent energy into important things like his socio-economic and political studies, his interests in music, news and his thoughts of self-loathing. Maybe Killian doesn't understand how Love is fundamental and that resisting it doesn't take from the fact that love is necessary no matter its' presented appearance. Or maybe he has and in observing, judged it as no good. But how much longer can Killian allow his childhood experiences of "love" to continue to construct his reality? And what or who will it take for Killian to finally look up and see he is worthy of love, tenderness and warmth?

On The Edge is an original script that I decided to write as part of my personal project for school. This play falls under the category of play of ideas. If you don't know what that means, it means that this play highlights social issues of today. In order to write this play, I had to research suicide, depression, social anxiety, bullying, and bipolar disorder and embed what I learned into characters. I researched using the internet as well as interviewing people that I know who deal with some of these issues. By writing this, I wanted to educate myself as well as spread awareness about these issues. I hope that if you are someone who deals with these issues that this play can help you know that you are not alone and help show that you have options to get help. I hope that if you are someone who knows another dealing with these issues that this play can help you better understand how you can be there for them and help them. This script is technically finished, but i will continue to edit it to make it better. I will edit based on the critiques i receive on here and well personal goals on how I want to change it.
