Do you have someone in your life you didn't expect to stay? Someone who suddenly appeared, like they were just meant to be there, with you? This isn't just a story. This an account of how two lives of two very different people yet the same became entwined. There are those who say they were just lucky. This tale isn't about luck. No, it's about just the opposite. What is luck? Is luck when you win the lottery millions have entered? Is it luck when you hardly studied the material for a test and you passed with barely a C? Or is it luck when two people who are in the darkest places of their lives meet and somehow they manage to survive?

This is a short story about an awakening in the life of The Writer Quai during a major transition in her life. Life becomes overwhelming when faced with the COVID-19 global pandemic during the final semester of undergraduate studies. What does she do? PANIC! FUN FACT😎 Pictured in the cover of this work is a Magnolia Virginiana L. sweetbay flower that I found exploring Ayr Mount in Hillsborough, North Carolina. I learned that the home and land was originally a plantation. The flower had small insects crawling over it that I didn't see from afar. When I got up on it I saw the bugs and panicked! I was scared to smell it at first... but it truly smelled so sweet!

In the fast-paced corridors of a bustling hospital, Alex, a dedicated and compassionate medical social work supervisor, finds his professional life turned upside down by Ethan, his new intern. Ethan carries a "bad boy" charm - rebellious, a little immature, yet undeniably kind-hearted and genuine. Beneath his playful exterior, he is a devoted father to his young daughter, though his marriage feels distant and unfulfilling. As Alex guides Ethan through the challenges of medical social work, he discovers himself drawn to the intern in ways he cannot control. Torn between ethics and desire, Alex struggles to suppress feelings that grow stronger with each passing day. Despite knowing the boundaries of their professional relationship, his heart refuses to listen. Ethan, straight and devoted to his family, does not reciprocate Alex's romantic feelings. Yet, he cannot deny the warmth and comfort he feels in Alex's presence, a fleeting escape from his complicated life. As the internship draws to a close, the tension between them intensifies, and both must confront impossible choices - pursue feelings that could destroy lives, or step back and preserve the fragile balance of family, career, and propriety. Forbidden Care is a story of longing, restraint, and the delicate, complicated nature of human connection, exploring the fine line between love and ethical responsibility.
