For Syl Alcantara, life had always been planned down to the smallest detail. He knew who he was, what he wanted, and where his heart belonged. It took years of confusion, fear, and acceptance before he finally learned how to stand proudly in his own truth, and thankfully, his family stood beside him through it all. So he doesn't understand how one reckless night could ruin the perfectly arranged life he worked so hard to build. How could something he never planted begin to grow in the first place? And worse, why did it have to happen with Louise Azaleah Ventura... a woman who looks at families like his with nothing but prejudice in her eyes? Now tied together by a mistake neither of them can erase, Syl finds himself trapped between the life he swore was already certain... and feelings that should've never existed to begin with. Because love grew exactly where he said it wouldn't.

This is a story all about me. Just as anyone else, my life has had many trials and tribulations. For so long I used to blame my parents for those trials because they made the first choice in my existence. However, I learned that my ongoing success has and will forever be about the choices I made. It wasnt the easiest ride and I didn't always believe in myself. My voice was taken away from me at a young age and I fought to have a say in my own narrative. So here it is.

This is a short story about an awakening in the life of The Writer Quai during a major transition in her life. Life becomes overwhelming when faced with the COVID-19 global pandemic during the final semester of undergraduate studies. What does she do? PANIC! FUN FACT😎 Pictured in the cover of this work is a Magnolia Virginiana L. sweetbay flower that I found exploring Ayr Mount in Hillsborough, North Carolina. I learned that the home and land was originally a plantation. The flower had small insects crawling over it that I didn't see from afar. When I got up on it I saw the bugs and panicked! I was scared to smell it at first... but it truly smelled so sweet!
