keilani ponce has always loved two things-surfing and softball.
growing up in southern california, she spent mornings chasing waves and afternoons on the diamond. now twenty-four, keilani is a second-year medical student at UCLA, already holding a master's degree in biology and beginning her clinical rotations while still finding time for the two things that have always made her feel most like herself.
then her older brother, dalton ponce, pitcher for the party animals, introduces her to one of his teammates and closest friends-bronson "bronny" balholm.
bronny is another california kid who calls Los Angeles home, and from the moment they meet, something between them just clicks.
late-night hitting sessions turn into tacos and tacos turn into long conversations. soon, bronny is waiting outside the hospital after her clinicals, keilani is watching his games whenever she can, and dalton is seriously regretting ever introducing his little sister to his teammate.
keilani is not looking for love and bronny's banana ball career keeps him on the road, while her future in medicine demands nearly everything she has.
but somewhere between california beaches, hospital hallways, baseball stadiums, stolen weekends, and one very protective older brother, they begin to realize that sometimes home isn't a place.
sometimes, it's a person.
but, sometimes, you have to take the risk-
and steal home.
