He clenches his fist before turning around and look at me in the eyes I let go of his arm but he grabs my hand and intertwines our fingers.

Because of his special mark, Sora doubts he'll ever be able to find the one he's meant to be with. That is, until the new kid in town shows up with an eye discoloration of his own.

A new reality has opened. After rescuing Sora from Quadratum, distressing news reaches some of the Guardians of Light. A realm outside of the real world and unreality has opened. This place has its own light and darkness that are about to clash. With nine keyblade wielders going in, they can only hope that the darkness on this world is not as strong as this world's light sided guardians, known as Jedi, fear it is. Yet war is just around the corner in this reality. The wielders can't hope to avoid it. But this war isn't a simple matter of Light and Darkness. There are shadows behind both sides. Can the keyblade wielders uncover the truth behind what will become known as the Clone Wars? Or will they not have the chance to return home?

(Part 1 of "One Change - A KH 'What if'?") We all know the story of Birth by Sleep. The old classic tale. Ventus was split in half in an attempt to create an all powerful blade because he refused to use his inner darkness, Terra was possessed, Aqua left to roam the forbidden lands of the Realm of Darkness, and Ventus was cast into a deep sleep after his heart was supposedly destoryed from his skirmish with Vanitas. But what if that never happened? What if Ventus actually used his darkness to create the x-blade? What would happen then? Welcome to the Destiny Islands, where our story starts to begin, nearly fourteen years after our prologue with Ventus. Sora, Riku, and Kairi, a trio of the bestest of friends, are planning on building a raft to get out and see other worlds. But not everything is at rest. Sora's been getting strange dreams about a place with platforms of stained glass and ominous voices, and though he isn't particularly scared by these dreams... it's still weird. Meanwhile, Kairi, our favorite Princess of Heart, is having some issues, seeing as she is also experiencing dreams like the ones Sora has been, but hers is vastly different from his. Not to mention, the ever growing rivalry between Riku and Sora. But when their home is suddenly plunged into darkness, and Sora and Kairi are thrown into a new world entirely... questions start to arise. Where is Riku, and why isn't he here with them? Why does Kairi have a magical weapon, and why is she the only one to wield it? Why doesn't Sora have one?

The main character in this story is Kairi, who is completing her training under Master Aqua. She is then tasked to go on a new mission to unlock the power of light inside her with the help of Donald and Goofy. Meanwhile, Riku arrives in Quadratum. An old threat to the worlds has returned and the guardians of light are called into action once more.
