"You forget, Avanzini." Manon says with such a somber voice that Dani's never heard before. "I was reaped too." Dani looks at her, actually looks at her, and no longer sees Meret Manon Sarpong Bannerman, the capital favorite and beauty of district one. She sees Manon, a scared child just like the rest of them that was forced to kill in a cruel game for crimes neither of them had committed. It's time for the victory tour again, and victor Daniela Avanzini of district 9 is dreading it, not only because it means she has to be back in the capital and also celebrate another traumatized child's win.
