I had an itch. A terrible, disgustingly, distracting one that picked at me like a woodpecker to a tree. Peck, peck, peck. The kind of itch that terrified me and compelled me all at once to give in. Was I brave enough to scratch? Bold enough to give into an urge that seemed impossible? After all how long can anyone really resist a call that clings to your very skin.

Hello, My name is Hannah. I'm 24 years old and traveled the world alone since 18. I've been to many places. Here's my perspective. It has its pros and cons. I've never had the luxury of being able to say that I visited the childhood homes that my parents grew up in. I've never taken trips to grandmas have, and I don't have any fond memories of making cookies with her in the kitchen. I've never stepped foot in the streets that my mother played in as a child or met the people who raised her or grew up with her. I've never grasped this idea of home. I've never been able to find a strong sense of belonging. Not here, not in the USA. Because this is not where my story belongs, this is not where my life started. I seek to find my belonging, to understand a culture that I was ripped from. I belong to Laos.

So I have been wanting to go on a trip and i've decided to put it in writing because I saw a contest that was offered to me. This is an actual dream of mine and so I hope you all accept that.
