In Raven Falls, the tunnels beneath the city were sealed off years ago. The mayor said it was for safety-structural damage, unstable ground. But everyone in town knew the truth: some places are dangerous because of what they hold, not what they're made of. That's why no one went down there alone. That's why people whispered warnings instead of explanations.
But teenagers are good at ignoring rules, and dares spread faster than common sense. Most who stepped into the tunnels came back laughing, their flashlights flickering, swearing they'd only seen mildew and rats. Most. When a group of friends takes the dare one October night, they discover the stories weren't exaggerations. Something else lives in the dark-and it's been waiting for someone to open the tunnels again.
