After Abuela Claudia's death two months ago, Sonny hasn't been the same. School has just started again and Sonny is back up to his usual antics, though he just can't seem to hit it off with any of the girls around. Graffiti Pete, his best friend of many years now, is always there picking up the pieces. He's been there through every girl who turned him down and even when Abuela died. But this day would be different from the rest.

(yep, this is an In The Heights AU. And the main ships are Pete x Sonny and Carla x Daniela. i don't even know what I just wrote but enjoy it anyways) .:Pete finally leaves the barrio, heading towards Chicago to have a better life for himself. Sonny follows him, and then realizes why his best friend moved so suddendly. Sonny could've gone back to the barrio and not get involved with Pete's problems..but where's the fun in that?:. As the community takes Pete and Sonny in and pushes them out, they find solid ground in together. Sonny and Pete hang out together, each missing and searching for pieces of themselves. Can they find them in each other? Some of the scenes come from the play, others are put in instead of scenes from the play, and some take place before or after a scene in the play. The story on a whole is taken from during and after In The Heights, all rights to Lin Manuel Miranda (the one god I believe in).

Sonny, an open warm and endearing kid. His life is going nowhere until he meets Pete, an attractive rascal who hangs around the bodega spraying designs and words on abandoned buildings. Sonny tales an instant liking to Pete and the unique ways he learnt during their time together. However, sonny worries if they get too close they might slip out where everyone could find out about their little relationship.

Sol doesn't remember much about his past. All he remembers is a song and a kind voice. Living on the streets of Washington Heights makes you tough. Pete is just looking for a way to survive. When the two boys meet up, Pete discovers that Sol bears a striking resemblance to a missing family member someone in America is looking for - someone who is offering a large reward to be reunited with said family member. What follows is a journey to pass Sol off as someone's long-lost cousin, with Pete's bubbly assistant Carla in tow. On the way, they discover that maybe faking isn't necessary - Sol could very well be the missing boy. And what happens when Pete finds himself catching feelings for this boy?
