My first Soulmark AU -- a fairytale of sorts inspired by a story I read that was never completed. Sometimes it can be difficult, if not impossible to locate the one person in all the world sharing your unique birthmark. Sometimes that person lives their whole life never knowing you even exist. When the legendary skater Viktor Nikiforov turned 27 he had nearly given up hope, he never expected discovering the truth rested in a promising Japanese skater who had disappeared from the public eye plagued by rumors after a disastrous season and an embarrassing spectacle at the prior year's Grand Prix party. He never expected to find his soulmate 's profile on the recently created, controversial site listing people seeking their soulmates who were dying.

Todoroki sees someone with a soul mark identical to his. Bad news: it's an employee at a roadside motel in a tiny, middle-of-nowhere town. Worse news: he apparently already has a boyfriend. That's how Todoroki finds himself booking eight weeks at the Black Rock Inn and hoping for the best, all the while knowing he may very well be about to destroy someone else's relationship.
