"Life isn't chess-its pieces aren't only white or black, nor must there be a winner or a loser."
A realm called Thaevaelon, where individuals are born neutral-raised not by families, but by voice entities of power.
They go to the one and only school in the land, Slanity: Prey Concise. There, they learn about evils and angels, taking no bias. To observe, not follow. But they are merely vessels of knowledge and life until 14. Because at 14, they must leave the realm through the bridge-The Lone Suspension-to face the human realm and choose which path to belong to: the angels... or the evils.
But before that, there's the yearly festival-A Beautiful Mistake-where neutral children meet and communicate with freedom.
Two took a chance.
Lily, a 12-year-old girl in a white gown and flower crown, unsure of whatever the future holds for her. Remeil, a 13-year-old boy in a gray, full-sleeved vest, holding just one lily-a white, glowing one. Ready to face whatever fate brings to him.
They meet.
"What are you called?" a gentle, soft voice asks. "I call myself Lily. You?" a playful, sweet tune replies. "You have a beautiful name," an honest compliment. "Lily is my favorite flower." A breath, then-"I call myself Remeil."
Was the meeting just a sweet coincidence... or the beginning of fate's play, one they never knew they were pawns in?
"They called it a game-but did the pieces know they were being played?
