BCCI ombudsman and ethics officer DK Jain is yet to get a call from the top officials for his contract extension after his one-year term ended in February this year. Justice DK Jain was appointed as Ombudsman cum Ethics Officer in February last year and now it is up to the BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and secretary Jay Shah whether they would offer him an extension or not. "It was some time back that the CEO (Rahul Johri) had verbally asked me if I would be interested in an extension and I had said yes. But after that I haven't yet heard from them. Obviously, now the situation is different due to the lockdown," Justice (retired) Jain told PTI on Wednesday. "Let BCCI come up with a formal (written) offer and I will definitely consider it." However, he was asked if he has received any new set of complaints in recent times but he shared that since the office is closed because of the lockdown, he doesn't think there are any new cases of Conflict of Interest have come. He also shared that there are five cases still pending with him. "If I remember correctly, there are either four or five cases pending. One of them is the Conflict of Interest case of Mayank Parikh," said Jain. One of them about Parikh who is a former liaison officer of the Indian cricket team and one of the complaints against him was that he ran six clubs in Mumbai. Moreover, Jain's stint started with the "Koffee with Karan" controversy involving India players KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. He had eventually faced numerous cases of Conflicts of Interest so far in his one year tenure which also included that of former Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) members Sachin Tendulkar, Ganguly and VVS Laxman as well. Former India pace bowler Ashish Nehra has recently said that former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was always open to a discussion with his players after a match. Not only this, his hotel room would always be open for the players also after the games. "People think that Dhoni doesn't talk much. That is not the case. His room would remain open in the night after matches. Anyone could walk in, order food and discuss cricket," Ashish Nehra said while he was speaking to another former India player Aakash Chopra on his show 'Aakash Vani'. "Be it in CSK or in the Indian team, Dhoni would pass on the message on what he thinks a player needs to do during a conversation and that would be enough for the players to get the drift," added the former speedster, Nehra who has played a lot of cricket under MS Dhoni's captaincy both for India and also at Chennai Super Kings in the cash-rich tournament Indian Premier League (IPL). Ashish Nehra also spoke on former India captain and current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sourav Ganguly, citing that he was a leader who used to back his players to a great level. "Dhoni had senior players around him when he took over and the challenge was how to manage them. Dada had a team of juniors and he backed them to the hilt. He would go all out to back his players," said the former left-arm pacer who has played 17 Tests, 120 ODIs and 27 T20Is in his cricketing career. However, the entire world has come into a standstill because of the global pandemic novel coronavirus. All the sporting events have either been postponed or cancelled across the globe and only time can tell when the world will recover from this.

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has said that India would like to host the 2020 Indian Premier League but he also mentioned that nothing has been decided about the tournament yet. The IPL 2020 was earlier decided to begin from March 29 but later got suspended until April 15 due to the global pandemic novel coronavirus and now it stands indefinitely suspended due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country. However, with the new guidelines of 'Unlock 1.0' which gives permission to sports events, the BCCI hopes to host the tournament this year as well. Meanwhile, Ganguly said to Sportskeeda that BCCI has been looking at all options but they are not yet sure when the game can resume since it is tough to predict. The IPL's future could be decided on June 10 when the International Cricket Council takes a call on the upcoming T20 World Cup 2020 which is scheduled to be held in Australia later this year. However, there are talks that the IPL could take place if the T20 World Cup is postponed for this year. Even, the reports also came that India could host the cash-rich league to another country if the situation here at home does not get better anytime soon. "If at all IPL does happen, we don't know where it could happen. India would certainly like to host the event, provided the environment is safe. Right now, we are not in a position to say anything. It is too early. We are yet to officially discuss the IPL schedule. But it depends on the safety of the environment. Saving human life and breaking the coronavirus chain are more important for all of us," Ganguly further added. While talking about himself, Sourav Ganguly said that he is maintaining the guidelines and staying at home as well. He also shared that he has been helping people as much as he could, although he is not sure how many people benefited through his charity foundation. But he is trying his best amid this crisis.

I didn't mind it earlier," Sourav Ganguly said on 100 hours 100 Stars, an initiative started by Fever Network, "Earlier, I wouldn't get time at home like this. I have got a time like this after long, so I am enjoying myself." He also shared that he's scared too since people come to his house to deliver groceries, food, so he felt a little scared as well. So it's a mixed feeling as well for him and he also wants this to end as soon as possible. Ganguly further added that he has been doing his all administrative work from home. He also said that his experience of his playing days is now coming in handy now-a-days where he used to face high-pressure situations. He even told that wrong footwork wouldn't give the batsman another chance. He also shared that this kind of situations can make any person alert and aware of real-life situations too.
