Near the edge of Ellonist space, Princess Kandra of the Middle Kingdom struggles beneath the weight of a crumbling throne and an overbearing mother. (Note: This is the old version. It is preferable if you read the current/new version.) For all their life, J. Pappas has been a reader and a writer. They have written about many things - cats, owls, humans, and dragons; they've read stories about distant futures, fantastic worlds, and epic adventures. But now a new genre of literature has arisen - "woke" literature. This type of literature has erased the memories of those old stories that J. and past generation loved to read, infecting those who read it with ideologies than wonder. And worse, the next generation is being exposed to its horrors. J. had to do something to combat this. And so, they wrote and wrote and wrote. Story after story after story. Many weren't working, but one stayed in their head. This is that story - a distant planet that mimics our times, but it not ruled by humans. It is ruled by dragons, and humans are the aliens of that planet.

Put on a pilgrimage ship to another planet, due to family debt she cannot escape, Anita Myers was resigned to her fate. A farmer by trade, she understood what she was getting into. She would help settle the 'new frontier', plant crops, catch dysentery probably, and then be buried in the backyard of her little dirt house. Except that didn't happen. Their ship crashed. On a completely different planet. And as someone with emergency response training, Anita is thrown into a mass casualty event, without a sterile medical environment, on a planet she doesn't even know the name of. Except the longer they are on the surface, the more things aren't what they seem, and the more she realizes, they might not be alone. Especially when, in the middle of the night. She stumbles across a large, winged alien, who studies her with an intensity that makes the hair on the back of her neck stand up. --- The great mother was broken apart, a silver sword sliced through her great blue and pierced the ground. And now there are strange creatures on our land. Strange creatures, with even stranger customs, and one looks at me with eyes like the great blue and a name of the great mother. I must have her, she must welcome me into her ke'tuk, the avatar of the great mother must bring me home.

Twenty years after the first mission to Mars has failed, mankind has regained enough courage and will to attempt a landing on The Red Planet again. Much has changed since the first attempt. Robots, guided by the world spanning artificial intelligence, Watson, have been busy for the last two decades, building the interplanetary infrastructure required to allow humans to spread out into the solar system for the first time. Their work has been immeasurably important. Their accomplishments in such a short time have been nothing short of miraculous. But, can we trust them? Some believe that Watson has secret ambitions and is guiding events toward a future that no human knows about.

Every day of his life, Jaxsen had to run for his life, fighting to stay alive. The dead hunted him, hunted anyone left still standing after the outbreak that had nearly destroyed the world. For eighteen years, this was the life Jaxsen had known, one half alive. The dead were monsters, with red eyes and decaying flesh. The world he lived in, was hell, and the creatures that hunted him were devil's spawn. From a young age, Jaxsen Lars had one mission: to survive. For years, he and his family searched military bunkers for one secret that the government kept: a way off the planet should the need arrive. To escape into the stars was Jaxsen's dream, and he'll push himself dead to help his family find that one kept secret. Desperate and starving, his group of family and friends finds the space ship that will take them to their new home. A course has already been set, and they leave Earth behind, hoping to reunite with others that left before them. But Jaxsen soon realizes that nothing comes without a price. When his ship, the Denver, stumbles upon the broken remains of four ships, three that look eerily similar to the Denver, and one that looks nothing of this world, they set out to uncover what had happened. Within the broken remains he finds a girl, one with a familiar face. Together, Jaxsen and Rylie work together to uncover the mystery to what had happened to her people. But far beyond the stars the virus finds them. And Jaxsen begins to question everything he thought he knew about what it means to survive.
