(Post-"Serenity" film) It's been a long time since Kaylee and Simon Tam have given any thought to the old smuggling crew. Six years, in fact. So many changes during that time-but when a simple heist job turns into something much bigger, Captain Reynolds needs their expertise, and the crew must once again band together against the overreaching Alliance-or the galaxy is doomed.

We put the Mothership in cruise control and travel further into the New Frontier of deep space, setting our eyes on a lonely world of junk and refuse. Ever the tinkerers, the people of this TrashPunk planet have somehow managed to build civilization from the mountains of garbage left behind by passing starships. Well we know he's been writing pretty much nothing but horror of late, and if you haven't checked out his 'ZEDS,' series then you probably should, but apparently he writes sci-fi, too! In this, the second TK special to feature a rather prolific - though not the most prolific, by any stretch of the imagination! - contributor of short stories to the ezine, we focus on our co-founder, @AngusEcrivain

It was as the year 2050 dawned that the Fermi Paradox found its answer but that was 80 years ago. Now the Solar system is mostly tamed but Systems Like Alpha Centauri and Proxima Centauri are still wild and untamed. Cyrus is someone who has never left the Solar System but has set out to see Proxima Centauri before it is "Pacified".

Another chapter in the Alpha Universe. Four years have passed since the events of The Sentinels v Rogues, and Reese Morris is currently one of the most wanted criminals in the Artemisia System, some light years from Earth. One day, however, he finds himself working with the only other Earthling in the system to help bring an end to the rule of an uncaring king and queen, all the while discovering what it truly means to be a hero.

Rachel captains The Kings Folly, a ship taking odd jobs with an odd crew. But when a handoff goes awry, Rachel, Ban and Fiver must figure out a way to keep everyone on the ship safe, all while greater celestial forces continue to aid-or hinder- in equal measure. Angela is an officer in The Golden Legion, the military arm of the Galactic Triumvirate, next to the Order Solaris government and the cultish Ecclesial Flame. She comes along with the mysterious Dunstan Edwards to hunt down The Kings Folly, but the mission takes on an immensely personal aspect for both of them as they try to bring in the renegade crew, all while rebellion stirs again.

Space - Western Enori has spent most of her life here in the Hents House, where girls are raised to be brides for sale. Despite the dread she carries for her future, she loves this place desperately and claims it as her home, a home she would sacrifice anything to protect. Two things disrupt her current bliss, though. The first is the Smiling Man, who's obsession with Enori only grows as time drags on, and Enori knows he can only be dissuaded for so long. The second comes in the form of a man named Dawson, a worker on the freighter that drifted into the port city. And even though Enori knows it will only be a matter of time before he drifts back out of her life, she can't help the growing sense of attachment that they share. When a terrible situation forces and impossible choice, Enori has to decide between that which she wants, and that which she truly needs.

Our protagonist (call her Oma) traded her life of luxury and stability for one of freedom and unpredictability. Call her a mercenary, salvager, bounty hunter, or pirate, but she has a good record and pretty clean conscience so far. Petty consumerism brings her to the space station Ischium, intergalactic trading post, but something else will keep her there.

Life can be lonely on Hades. The planet is hot as hell, and Max can hardly stand the isolation-much less the bloodthirsty crooks who run Midnight City.
