This story follows the process of Nukio and five other SUIT hopefuls being tested on their fitness to be a hero, including exercises testing their strength, aim, and agility. This testing culminates in a sparring match against one of the other SUIT applicants, a match that supposedly is the final decider of who officially gets admitted to SUIT...

Arabella Jones is your average American teenage girl, she even lives in one if America's most prosperous cities, Empire City, California. She's a sucker for the performing arts and owns two bookcases full of young adult novels. Well maybe she's not so much like your average American teenager. Everything in Arabella's life seems to be finally going perfect, right up until the city's most famous superhero come barging through her widow at two in the morning on a school night. All she used to have to worry about was what part she was going to get in the musical and if the boy she's been crushing on since freshman year likes her back or not. But these worries are nothing compared to her newfound super stalkers. Now it seems that the city's only hope, and her's, is a teenage boy dressed in spandex who still hasn't learned not to wear his underwear on the outside of his clothes.

And he's hell-bent on total annihilation. But that's not the only thing Nel has to worry about. A new hero has shown up in town. They call him the Red Laser - due to his loads of pent up anger and cutting wit. And probably the red lasers that beam from his fingers play a part too. Red Laser knows Nel's identity, something she is not in the least bit pleased about. Nel has no idea who he is, and she's determined to find out. Not to mention he's a sarcastic annoying dumbass who keeps showing up in her bedroom unannounced. If Nel wants to survive then she is going to have to figure out three things: what The Hammer is planning; how to tolerate Red Laser without wringing his neck; and how to save her abysmal chemistry grades. Red Lasers somewhat tiresome attitude isn't the only confusing and worrying thing about him. He may have all the gizmos and gadgets any regular old superhero would have, but he's got one difference.
