Speak Stories

A collection of poetry all written by me. Some of them are about my own experiences in life, while others are inspired by the world around me. It's about a variety of things all from gender-inequality, feminism, abuse, death, assault, mental health, religion to love, compassion and understanding.

A poem I had written a few years ago about Selective Mutism (SM), which is an anxiety disorder that makes is very difficult, basically impossible, to speak in social situations. We can speak perfectly fine when comfortable (home, with family and close friends), but physically cannot in situations such as school or public because of excessive anxiety. This is the first book in the 3 Minute German series. You can start reading this book as a complete beginner and you'll be forming your own sentences by the end of the first chapter. In each lesson, you'll learn a few words and phrases that you'll be able to put together to form sentences. The good thing about the method in this book is that everything you learn is repeated throughout, so you'll never need to go back to recap anything. The words and phrases that you'll learn in this book will be useful to you in any German speaking country. A lot of traditional language courses either start by teaching you an endless list of pronunciation rules, or you learn phrases that aren't too useful for the beginner, such as how to talk about your family or your job. In 3 Minute German, you'll learn the most useful words first. Finally, the title... Obviously, you can't learn German in just three minutes, but you can learn it in three-minute chunks. Usually, when you learn something new, you start out with great enthusiasm and motivation, however, this dwindles very quickly. Instead, if you keep your learning to short daily bursts, you'll be able to maintain your motivation and you'll end up sticking with whatever it is you're learning. By keeping your learning to short chunks, you'll maintain your enthusiasm, it'll quickly become a daily habit, and you'll find you remember things much more easily. I hope you enjoy 🙂

A short story focused around Jo, a muted dog with an incredible gift...or some would think. Her foresight causes her to notice the impending doom looming towards her and the rest of the world. Thus, she em"barks" on a journey of self-discovery, thought-provoking ideas, and much more in hopes to stop it.
