In the wake of a forgotten past, a broken Spider-Man must unite a fractured new generation of heroes to face a multiversal tyrant wearing the face of his fallen mentor-while a lone survivor from a dying universe holds the key to his survival.
Following the devastating fallout of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) is a ghost in his own city. Erased from the memories of everyone he ever loved, he operates entirely in the shadows of New York-isolated, broken, and determined to fight alone to keep others safe.
But the universe has other plans. From the upper levels of the newly rebranded Watchtower, Yelena Belova and the government-sanctioned Thunderbolts are keeping watch. Recognizing a storm on the horizon, Yelena sets out to drag the lonely vigilante into the light. When a massive cosmic anomaly splits the sky and crashes the Fantastic Four's extra-dimensional ship into Manhattan, Peter is forced out of hiding, colliding headfirst with the flashy Johnny Storm and a deeply unstable Bob Reynolds (The Sentry).
As temporal rifts tear through the fabric of reality, a battle-hardened refugee steps through the void: Gwen Stacy (Lili Reinhart), a super-powered Ghost-Spider mourning a loss of her own. In the middle of an impending apocalypse, an unexpected, fierce romance ignites between Peter and Gwen-two souls haunted by the ghosts of alternate timelines, finding a second chance in each other.
But when the legendary Steve Rogers and Thor return to rally the factions, the ultimate trap is sprung. Dragged into the dark heart of Latveria, the heroes come face-to-face with Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.). The unmasking of the tyrant delivers a devastating psychological blow that shatters Peter and Steve to their core: the face beneath the iron mask belongs to Tony Stark.
With the Avengers, Thunderbolts, and Fantastic Four broken by despair, Peter must rely on Gwen to anchor him for one final, explosive stand against the Doomsday Protocol.
