16-year-old Nimara Volkov has spent most of her life hiding from her past, burdened by pressures she knows she can never change. She fears that if she pauses even for a moment to look back, the weight of it all will once again suffocate her. As a member of the Spider Society, she is accustomed to making sacrifices, throwing herself into battle, and building walls that are nearly impossible to tear down. She uses the chaos around her as a distraction from the truth. Over the years, she has become sharp, witty, and unrelenting. Yet, deep inside, she remains a scarred little girl. Still, there's no doubt that she is a fire that never goes out. Then Hobie Brown entered her life. Hobie is loud, rebellious, charismatic, free-spirited, sarcastic, and unpredictable. He didn't just manage to slip past her walls; he tore them down. They were supposed to be nothing more than teammates-barely even friends.
