Shauna is shot in the back. The bullet hits her spinal cord. She is diagnosed with paraplegia - paralysis from the waist down. Her world falls apart. And she's not sure if she can ever make the pieces fit together again. This is a special story for International Spinal Cord Injury Day. This time, it's NOT a one-shot, instead, it will be a short story, spanning six chapters. And this time, I dedicate it to the people out there who have to live with spinal cord injuries. They're some of the strongest of us all.

Learning to live and seeing the world from a wheelchair at forty and beyond

It's not just a slow burn love story; it's about living with a disability and finding someone who never sees it as a flaw.

The accident took nearly everything away from him. His little brother, his ability to walk, and his ability to perform. James Wilson, the lead singer of the world-famous band CityLight is involved in a fatal car crash. Zoe White is trying her best, wanting nothing more but to go home. Plunged into despair and suicidal thoughts, he's saved by unexpected lifelines-the profound compassion of dedicated doctors and nurses, and the fierce, unwavering loyalty of friends (fellow "sent-down youth"). Over years and multiple hospitalizations, within the microcosm of the ward (Room 10, Room 7, the solitary "Plus" room), he witnesses both crushing tragedies (a paralyzed child, a separated couple) and discovers glimmers of love and purpose. Forged in the crucible of suffering and sustained by human connection-his "earthly utopia"-he learns to find meaning and value in life even when the body fails, ultimately embracing the spirit to endure.
