A group of Inkling soldiers gets caught in a growing Octarian attack behind Inkopolis Square. They eventually escape, but one member is missing, and it's clear the Octarians were using advanced, coordinated strategies instead of simple attacks. This is a short story I did months ago that shows an extent of Maize's powers with her void hand, and also of her adoptive mother, Marie finding out. Her void hand in her backstory was obtained during the transition of phase 1 to phase 2 of the final boss fight against Mr. Grizz, being transported out of reality and into the void before being launched back into reality by an unknown entity.

A sharkling named Indigo arrives in Splatsville. They meet an enthusiastic artist, Anarchy Battle Champion, and mysterious octoling with strange colored tentacles. But once someone strays too far underground, Grizzco gets unusually demanding, and people get their hands on a human gun, what will Indigo do? Or rather, what will Indigo not do?
