"At this point.. dying would be a much kinder fate." You were an experiment subject in a lab after you were found unconscious yet alive after surviving fire. They just assumed you had a "strong body" and took you in a lab to experiment you. Everyday, they would injected painful syringes into you, cut your skin to experiment you and they gave you a collar for electric shocks everytime you disobeyed. You lost hope. There was no way of escaping this place. You just had to live hell again and again everyday until they kill you. Or you just kill yourself. You were slavered.
