A protagonist returns to an old house after a family death, expecting grief and silence. Instead, the house behaves as if it is alive. The hallway becomes the central nightmare doors change position, footsteps echo from impossible places, memories begin to fail, and a pale figure appears at the far end of the corridor like it has been waiting there for years. At first, the protagonist assumes it is a human intruder. Then the truth becomes far worse, the figure is not trying to enter the room. It is trying to keep the protagonist from leaving. The house slowly reveals a buried family secret involving missing memories, hidden rooms, and a past the family tried to erase. The horror should remain ambiguous for as long as possible the threat may be a ghost, a buried trauma, a living person, or something that has learned to imitate grief.

It's been thirty years since the events that took place in Salem. The Sanderson Sisters were vanquished and Destiny Sanderson and Thackery Binx were set free to see the world. The couple are living the life they never got to have three hundred and thirty years earlier. This is a short horror story where I delve into some of my deepest fears, aiming for a fast-paced narrative that leaves readers feeling unsettled and disoriented. I wanted to create a sense of confusion and dread, encouraging the imagination to run wild with the unfolding events. While this version is longer than the one I submitted to a magazine due to its strict word count, it captures the full intensity of the story I wanted to tell.

Destiny Sanderson is the niece of the feared Sanderson Sisters. The three witches kidnapped her from England and killed her parents because she has the blood of a witch just like them. Destiny lived in constant fear in the care of her aunts, that was until she met and fell in love with Thackery Binx. Their relationship was strong, even though they had to keep Destiny's secret hidden. When the sisters place a curse to return from the dead, Destiny found the spell book, her Aunt Winnie's prized possession; and placed a powerful spell on herself to remain immortal so that one day she can stop the wrath of her aunts.
