When publisher Joseph Pulitzer sets new rules that make it harder for the young newspaper salesmen to make a buck, the boys go on strike. Bryan Denton, a journalist who's sympathetic to their plight, gives them some tips in public relations, as the newsboys' battle grips the city. (I know this is (almost) the Movie's literal definition when you look it up, but in the movie had some things cut from it that needed to be in it and I know it happened irl but I know it won't let me put Historical Nonfiction soooo)

Sprace story

Shawn came back from the field at sundown. Every muscle in my body visibly relaxed at seeing him safe and sound. "WHAT WERE YOU DOING?" I screamed at his silhouette while he ran towards me. He didn't answered and kept running as fast as his small feet could carry him. When he was finally close enough for the moon to shed some light on him, I realised he was holding a Sunflower in his hand and a dirty piece of wood . He got down on one knee and held both objects in front me. "This," he began, holding up the piece of wood, " because you run as fast as a car" "That's supposed to be a car?" I mocked. "Shut up and take the gift" he frowned and threw the piece of wood at me. " okay, thank you" I said with a laugh. Leaning down, I grabbed the "car" and a little clump of dirt. When I got back up, the hand with the sunflower was extended to me. " I know it's your favourite" he mumbled angrily. "It is" I answered, taking his hand and the sunflower in mine. ... Sprace fanfic!! And a little bit of Javid but mainly SPRACE!

It had been a few months since the Newsies won their strike against Joseph Pulitzer and things had finally started to go back to normal. For most of the Newsies that was anyways. Two of the Newsies, Specs and Romeo had their own problems that they were dealing with. Both were hopelessly in love with the other and were convinced that the feelings were not mutual. In a time where being gay is illegal, will they give up or will they find joy in an illegal romance?
