A true story of a child's adoption and the obstacles that were faced while growing up. Things aren't always what they seem from the outside looking in. Just because a child was adopted, doesn't mean that they're always safe. You will also see that the badge and uniform doesn't always mean that "they must've been adopted into a good family." This story is meant to empower and give voice to the people who need to speak up about sexual abuse. This story is about my own struggles of adoption, which has been a life long journey. I hope that you find courage in my story to not live in the dark, because you're afraid of what other's might see in the light. Closure doesn't always present itself in the way we wished it would. Sometimes, you have to buckle down and demand what's yours. This story, it's as close as I will ever get to closure, but the world deserves to know that there is strength in our weaknesses. If I can make it through all of this and still have some fight left in me....so can you. I've prided myself on being this overly strong person, who has been a fighter since day one. The harsh reality of sexual abuse is that it's NOT something you can just keep inside and continue to feel strengthened that you made it through. It doesn't just sit in the back of your mind to never be thought about again. I could only wish that it would work that way. You can't drink it away and you can't ignore it. You have to face it. If you want to heal....YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT HEAD ON.

This story is based on my own experiences. Ashley is 15 year old girl living in a small town in Pennsylvania. Growing up, she was told being homosexual was a sin. But one December, she discovered that she was starting to becoming attracted to girls. She made the mistake of telling her parents that she was bisexual. Now she has to hide any single bit of homosexuality from her parents without getting caught. But when she starts dating her childhood best friend, Jocelyn, that's when things go horribly wrong.

In my Language Arts class at school we were assigned this short project. It is called This I Believe. It is basically a prompt. The prompt is to write about you, not someone else. You write about what you believe. It has to be 200 or very close to 200 words. I really liked this because it was expressive and I could write about whatever I wanted to. That was the only problem....I couldn't keep it under 200 without having the desperate urge to write more. So.....I decided to make this book so I could write about whatever I wanted.
