When Gale's grandfather dies, she is given everything in his possession, including his farm. She moves to Pelican Town in hopes of finding purpose in life, and meets a ginger haired girl named Leah. Gale doesn't understand why Leah, along with almost everyone else, is so nice to her. But soon after moving in and starting a new life, Gale grows close with some of the townspeople and learns their backstories and the history of Pelican Town. Gale grows especially close with Leah and realizes that the friendship could be more than what she thinks.

After Sebastian confides in his friends, Sam finds himself thinking about things he'd never considered before. What is love and why does it always make him think of Sebastian? One trip down to the dock in the rain provides him with all the answers he never knew he needed.
