Starfleet-academy Stories

At commencement, Dani reflects on her four years at the Academy and ponders what life in Starfleet may hold for her. Story #3 in the "More Than a Lifetime" series. Author's Note: This story is the third in a series of stories that do not follow canon and should not be taken as such. The first story is "Delta Wild", the second is "Homecoming." The events in these stories occur in an alternate universe in which Chakotay's stint with the Maquis happened much earlier in his life. He is married to Kathryn Janeway, and they have a daughter. In this universe, Voyager did not combine with a crew from a Maquis ship, but instead reached the Delta Quadrant with a small loss of life and most of her crew in tact. The events of "First Contact" and "Insurrection" have already occurred in this timeline, but "Nemesis" has not.

Small town girl and Penn State drop-out Bellona Reynolds never expected to be accepted into Starfleet Academy. Her mother was terrified of it, her father was constantly gone, and her older brother Janus wasn't accepted when he applied. When a letter comes one morning telling her about the things she needed to buy, Bellona didn't hesitate. She wanted to be a Lieutenant Commander on a Starship, hopefully finishing her medical career. She's always been the smartest of her family, the more motivated one, but what will 4 years at the Academy do to her when she runs into obstacles like heartache, confusion, and worst of all falling for somebody who is seemingly impossible to love her back? Will it break her or will she manage to pull through?
