It doesn't take many years for the SGC to realize that whether it's being lost in time or space that there is a very real possibility for people to not have an easy way home. Therefore they create five phases of being lost. Phases one and two mean you'd definitely return to Earth if possible while four and five mean you don't have to without consequence.

The last thing John Sheppard expected had been to recalled to active duty. Forced to finally tell his wife Sally the full truth about his past and so near adopting four children, he hated putting them in danger because of threat from his past. I did use the script the only thing I own is Selena yes she's from the Star Trek universe it's basically the whole show plus the movies but throw her eyes so yeah injoy
