Starvation Stories

(Book 2 of Vanished) It's been four months since everyone over the age of fifteen vanished. As food becomes scarce, hunger sets in. People desperate to get even something that wasn't canned around there. Now the real danger has begun. One powerful snowstorm, unlike any storm you'd see in society. When touched by the snow, you get burned. If you inhale the wind, you will become ill with a deadly virus. To make matters worse, the electricity has completely gone out. With the stress of injuries and illnesses, death begins to take a huge toll on their population. It all seems to be the end of everything for them. However, there are unexpected dangers such as people or even actions that may change everything.

I scanned his face and body, his smile faded, teeth pressed together in.. anger? I tilt my head, staring into his eyes in a softened glance. I DIDN'T EVEN STEAL YOUR SOUL JAM!" he bellowed in my face heaving probably getting some weight off his chest from admitting it.My heart sank as my eyes slowly began to fill with this wet liquid, which was confusing. Looking at the picture now, I could tell from his face he was not okay in the beginning. his had eye bags with some cakey ish powder over it to cover it up.. well! I'm usually sad and like to write poetry whenever I am. I write mostly about the things that matter most to me, like discrimination equality hunger starvation death suicide abortions LGBTQ racism Black Lives matter, and for all that should be noticed by the people in this world but isn't. the things that I'm so sick of people not taking into notice.

This is my second short story for the National Geographic #PlanetOrPlastic writing contest. I trimmed over one hundred words to keep it below the 500 word limit, but all in the name of environmental awareness! My story takes place in a post-apocalyptic future, where the ocean has retaliated against humans by flooding the planet, leaving few survivors. A young girl named Willa has spent her entire life inside a historic castle in Germany, where her great-grandfather worked as curator before the flooding began. But an otherworldly experience is about to change her life forever.

A glimpse of the future we are creating for those who come after us. This is the world we are leaving to them. Deceit isn't doing so well after a surprise confrontation in the kitchen leaves him in fear.

An insidious black mold creeps across the world, spreading into every part of life. Society no longer exists as we know it. Men and women are rigidly segregated, as our children. Young boys are monitored by the servers, older men who hold a brutal selection to preserve the most physically desirable.

I thought I hated my boarding school, it was a prison that almost made me go mad and I could not wait to leave.... But when I left I realized that it had given me many memories to think back to. These are experiences while I was in the boarding school.

I am hungry, yet there is nothing I can eat. Short horror story, loosely based off of TMA statements.

It starts with a simple boat ride - head out into the ocean a bit, and do some deep sea diving for old time's sake. The problem is, upon resurfacing, her ride is gone, along with any maps or navigation.

A poem about the future of this planet and of humankind... I would also like to add, because I'm very worried, I recently sent this in to a competition but under a different name. In case they search to make sure the poem is original and not plagiarized, I did indeed enter English Alive with this poem under a pseudonym.
