At ten years old, Stassia loses her mother. On the day of the burial, she wanders to a quiet tree far from the cemetery chapel, and there, she meets Christian, a boy who just buried her father. Bound by shared grief, they find comfort in each other's silent company. Every year, on the anniversary of their parents' deaths, they return to that same spot, keeping a tradition alive for a decade. By twenty, they fall in love. By twenty-three, life tests them cruelly.
