Statue Stories

Some things don't disappear; they simply return to where they belong. On the night of her thirtieth birthday, Karen stumbles upon a strange shop that should not exist at the end of Fifth Avenue. Inside, she stumbled upon a statue and a deal she cannot fully remember, aside for one detail: Twelve full moon cycles. As the months pass, Karen's once-lonely life begins to change in impossible ways. Old wounds reopen. Broken relationships slowly mend. A forgotten dream begins to breathe again. Surrounded by the people she loves most, Karen finds herself living the happiness she once believed was meant for everyone else except her. But the closer the moon drifts toward its final cycle, the more Karen realizes that peace may come with a price. That some miracles are only temporary. A story about longing, found family, unfinished lives, and the terrifying beauty of knowing something wonderful will eventually end.

"Please do tell me, what's so strange about all this?" He leaned against the statue of a leopard that rested behind him. "Oh, I dunno. Maybe the fact that we're on our way to a city in the middle of the mountains that we aren't even sure exists?" He tilted his head slightly. "It does exist, though. Finn has shown us, remember?" "But, you have wings, and a hole in your chest. Is that not strange? He's fast, I can shapeshift. Oh, and that's a moving statue." I countered. He smiled, clearly amused. Behind him, the stone leopard rumbled softly and closed his eyes. It was about to be another very, very long night.
