Just a short story in the Brandon Sanderson Cosmere. Obviously fan fiction. If I get more than a few likes or perusals I'll post the rest.

Life isn't easy in Newcago, what with the constant threat of being murdered by an all powerful epic. Most say that fighting back against Steelheart is futile, but the constant pressure applied to the common people might come around to bite back Newcago's overlord someday. Maybe a few kids will gain the courage to stand against a god. Maybe soon, Steelheart will have a rebellion on his hands...

Set in CW's comic universe, Steelheart follows the story of pilot Draco Fisk as he is thrust into the world of superheroism, told from the perspective of an unlikely ally.

Newcago doesn't just suffer traffic-it obeys it. When a new Epic calling himself Gridlock takes control of the highways, the city's lifelines turn into cages. Cars freeze bumper-to-bumper for days. Radios and camera feeds stutter into silence. Ambulances and supply runs only move if someone pays his price. In a place already ruled by Steelheart, Gridlock proves there's a worse kind of power than flying above the streets... controlling them. Eli is just a courier-small, fast, and desperate enough to slip through the cracks the Epics don't bother to notice. It has been two years since the first Sifting. The people of Aptos are still trying to piece back the shards of their once coveted society. They are forced to live in fear and trauma, not knowing when The Wave will come again to take their people. Defenseless and defeated, the survivors are all but ready to leave the town and retreat to the surrounding mountains for safety. But even if they did, was there really any refuge capable of withstanding a force as formidable as The Wave? "Everything is going to be okay," Landon reminds himself, "even without her." Kazimir Udinov was the survivor of the 1995 Budyonovsk Hospital Crisis but his mother was not. Kazimir and his father tried to keep the family business of their small restaurant going until thugs burnt it down and killed his father. Enraged, Kazimir was able to wield one of the two ancient powers and take down his father's killers by some sort of killer instinct. Watching all of this from a safe distance, Abner Sebastian makes him an offer that he could not refuse. He trains Kazimir into a lethal soldier and harnesses his powers.
