All Vane wanted was a half day's pay and somewhere to nap. As a drifter-for-hire with no particular destination, covering a stranger's shift at Herta Space Station seemed like easy money. It was, right up until the Antimatter Legion showed up - followed shortly by two wanted criminals, a pair of unconscious strangers, and an invitation he couldn't exactly refuse. Now he's somehow tangled up with the Astral Express crew. Could be worse. Probably.

At the scene, they stumble upon something unexpected. Nestled between the roots, a person lay resting, as if protected by the tree itself. When he opens his eyes, he'll remember nothing about a world that refused to forget him.
