One day Ponyboy finds Steve sitting at the kitchen table, brooding, upset, and sporting a large bruise on his cheek, not to mention the countless others and the way he's sitting there, uncharacteristically quiet... so Pony devises a way to get him talking. What happens next starts them off on a different part of their semi rocky relationship, or lack thereof, but that's a thing of the past. Maybe Steve actually likes the 'Tag Along' and maybe Ponyboy doesn't hate Steve like he says he does. Soda tries to ask out Steve, and Steve reveals he's actually into ponyboy and is planning to ask him out. Not long later, Pony and Steve begin dating, and Soda feels broken without his best friend by his side, and like he's ruined everything. He's to scared to admit the truth to pony, but pony is beginning to realize something is wrong when Soda begins to strain their relationship after he began dating Steve, even though they use to be close before. Pony assumes Soda is homophobic and isn't sure if it's worth being with Steve if it means he'll lose soda. Chaos ensues.
