In Steven Universe Future, there was a 3 month gap between I am My Monster and The Future. Although I don't entirely believe this is what happened, this is just a fun interpretation of what happened then.

In the future, gems have a chance to find their true selves at Little Homeschool. Including Steven, who must discover what it means to be Steven Universe and no one else. But he doesn't have to do it alone and finds support from an unexpected source. A new gem has arrived in Beach City and is set on serving her Diamond, Steven Universe. Steven tries to tell her that things have changed, but (Y/n) refuses to leave his side. (Y/n) has many secrets for the Crystal Gems to uncover, but are they to protect Steven or herself? ******** This is a reader-insert that corresponds to Steven Universe Future, so if you haven't seen it, read at your own risk!! A new gem threatens earth. And this gem seems unbeatable. POOFS Steven! Will the gems save him? Because this gem, isn't going to be defeated with love. You are one of a kind. Well, at least that's what your father said. Not in a good way tho. Ever since you were born to Earth, all of the blames was reserved for you and you only.
