A knock sounds at the door, alerting Steve and Tony of Pepper and Rhodey's arrival. Steve opens the door, and hugs are traded. Pepper raises an eyebrow. "So, Tony, any big plans for tomorrow?" she asks, stifling a grin. Tony's mouth twists. "I forgot," says Tony. "You can stop rubbing it in my face now. Jesus." Pepper grins, shaking her head. Rhodey smiles from beside her. "We're just enjoying our moment of victory," states Rhodey, stifling a laugh. "I hate both of you," Tony says, turning his back on them to go and make everyone some coffee.

"The only time." Tony crawled onto the bed, ripping his shirt off and throwing it onto the previously clean floor. "That I can sleep." He swiftly laid down beside Steve, moving his boyfriend's arms out from their stern position so that they were holding him. Tony leaned in closer, chest to chest with Steve, his head nestled in the crook of Steve's neck. "Is when I can feel your heartbeat against mine."

Steve tries to apologize to Tony for all the hurt he has caused since that day with Bucky. Tony tries to tell him he doesn't want to do this right now, but when has Steve ever listened? The emotional unloading that follows and verbal attacks meant to kill, not wound, are just to be expected at that point. Or, Tony has a very emotional response to Steve trying to apologize and lays into him with the force of all the emotional pain he has endured because Steve deserves to feel the pain he caused, right?
