Cora and Fletcher have been best friends since birth. They need each other. They basically live at each others houses. The one thing is that Fletcher is slowly killing himself. He wants to do one thing: Take Cora to the Senior prom. He made that one promise to her. He is not going to break that. Cora has no idea what is happening. Cora loves Fletcher but she is lesbian and her girlfriend will be on vacation that weekend. She accepted the request not knowing that it will be the last time she see's her beloved Fletcher.
