For the longest time, Carina has been a die-hard fan of T. Sullivan's "Midnight Meadow" trilogy, but not because of its valiant hero but because of the complex characterization of its villain, the Ivory Tower Wizard. When Storyland appeared at their town one day bannering her favorite book as its main attraction, there was no way she wasn't taking the Trip.
Everything was going well and nothing seemed amiss--not until the Ivory Tower Wizard, who was not supposed to see her with her invisibility locket on, looked at her dead straight in the eye.

His irises were like giant glowing fireballs sucking her in, his piercing gaze getting under her skin. His huge frame towered over her as he held the ends of her raven hair to his lips.
"I never once thought the Palace balls interesting, but I stand corrected," his deep voice echoed in the empty hallway. Carina thought she escaped earlier when their gazes met, how did he find her? "But my lady, you are the most peculiar."
