Stowaway Stories

This is a short story I wrote for my final paper in my philosophy of evil class! We had to create our own society and illustrate how evil is conceptualized within it. I based my society on the biological mechanisms of Celiac disease, which I have. Basically, gluten triggers an immune response when consumed. The immune system perceives gluten as a threat and attacks it and the wall of the small intestine. This damages the wall and the digestive system's ability to properly absorb nutrients, which can have lasting effects on the body. In addition, the damaged wall leaves an opening that allows more gluten to enter and sustain this positive feedback loop. There's a lot of fancy science jargon to explain all that, but essentially that response cycle is what I used as the basis for my society. Enjoy!

A starter kit for the 'Gifted Being Lore' being released this Christmas! It provides a guide to the universe created as a canvas for the Fae (fairy race). It is based on a diary written by Jadesaranun... Esponito-Susoi (her last name is like 4 pages long so let's not bother). Alicia has had it. She packs her bags and gets the heck out of her adoptive parents house. Yes, dear readers, our Alicia has run away. To a zoo. Woodland Park Zoo (located in Ballard, Washington) is a place Alicia has always wanted to go. She studied the animals whenever she had time (which was not very often) in Portland, but she needed new scenery. Once she gets to the zoo, she begins to take long detailed notes on the animals there, and then compares them to how wild, uncaptive animals behave. She arived at the perfect time. The day after she got there, she overhears a couple of zookeepers talking. They spoke of a new mammal that has been discovered, and it's coming to the zoo! Alicia is overjoyed. A new animal to study? Fantastic! But what is the mammal is afraid of people? Deathly afraid? And what if this new species is for some reason endangered? Can Alicia help? How can she, though, if she's a stowaway?
